In the first half of Nigeria's 2023 World Cup qualifying match against Ghana, Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho shone.

Uzor produced two outstanding saves that kept the Black Stars in the game.

In the encounter, Osimhen led the Super Eagles' assault.

This is because Al-Hilal FC striker Odion Ighalo, who has been in excellent form recently, is expected to start from the bench.

It was reported that fireworks are expected on Friday 25,  as Ghana host their arch-rivals Nigeria in one of the most anticipated matches of the first leg of the 2022 World Cup playoffs in Kumasi.

This is because, according to data collected from the CAF website, Ghana has a 25-25 head-to-head edge, with 19 of their 56 previous meetings ending in draws.

The Super Eagles have won 12 of their last 13 meetings with the Black Stars. Nigeria triumphed 5-0 in their first meeting on October 20, 1951.

Both teams last played in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match in 2001, when they were both vying for a spot in the Korea/Japan 2002 finals. The first game ended in a 0-0 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium, but Nigeria won the return leg 3-0 at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt on July 29, 2001.

Their most recent meeting took place on October 11, 2011, in a friendly match in London, which ended 0-0.

Nigeria vs Ghana kicks off at 7.30 p.m. today at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, with the return leg scheduled for Tuesday, March 29 at 6 p.m. at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The victor of the two-leg match will receive one of Africa's five tickets to the 22nd FIFA World Cup finals, which will be held in Qatar from November 14 to December 18.
