Mercy Aigbe, a popular Nollywood actress, has denied claims that she was the instigator who broke the home of her new husband, Kazeem Adeoti, alias Adekaz, and his former wife, Funsho.

Lanre Gentry, her ex-husband, uploaded a photo which shows himself, Mercy, Adekaz and his former wife at a party that went popular on the Internet.

Mercy Aigbe has however denied the claim that Gentry and Adeoti, on the other hand, have never been friends, pointing this out in a concise message she sent to Saturday Beats.

"They were never family friends," she stated, contradicting what Funsho and others have claimed on social media. Adekaz's fortieth birthday was in 2013, and I was still married to Gentry at the time. I went with my then-husband to the event. My spouse is a Muslim, and he is permitted to have multiple wives. I didn't sever his ties with Funsho."

At the same time, Angela Tolulade, a woman from the United States of America who claimed to be a family friend of the Adeotis, told Saturday Beats that Adekaz and Funsho had a strained relationship before Aigbe entered the picture. "Adekaz and Funsho married 20 years ago in the United States," she explained. Adekaz, a registered mortgage broker, moved to Nigeria to start a film production company.

"Funsho declined to come over, and her husband insisted on her staying with him in Nigeria. It's worth noting that the case had been dragging on for nearly two years. If she (Funsho) did not return as arranged, he (Adekaz) informed her flat out that he would marry another woman."

"He arrived in Nigeria with Funsho, who eventually returned to the United States, claiming she did not want to stay in Nigeria. The marriage was going strong until Funsho refused to come over, which her husband insisted on. It's worth noting that this case had been dragging on for almost two years. He (Adekaz) informed her of the situation.

She further stated that Adekaz did not boycot his responsibilities to his children, he pays the bills and all. Hence, Funsho cannot say he abandoned her as she is the one adamant about coming to Nigeria. She is also the one that filed for separation as she has asked him to choose between her and any woman he marries.

On the other hand, Adekaz is a Muslim and he has the right to marry more than one wife."
